Hi, I’m Kris Pachla. I’m a science educator and progressive Democrat running for County Commission. I care deeply about my neighbors and believe in a vibrant, welcoming Kent County. Our new district encompasses neighborhoods in Grand Rapids, and all of East Grand Rapids.
Giving back has always been important to me. As a physics teacher, I helped inspire students of every background to become scientists and leaders. Now I’m the Director of GVSU’s Regional Math & Science Center and work to grow STEM education initiatives for minorities and women. In 2019, I was elected to serve East Grand Rapids as a City Commissioner, where I’ve focused on sustainability, environmental protections, multi-modal mobility, improving public safety, and transformational improvements to our parks and playgrounds.
I envision a future for Kent County that includes everyone. We need to invest in those communities which haven’t historically benefitted from investment, prioritize our kids so they’re all ready for Kindergarten, ensure public safety efforts keep people safe, and protect reproductive health and choice from policies that take us backward. I look forward to serving you by listening, addressing problems, and innovating toward a better future.
I believe in Kent County. I hope I can earn your vote.
